Mt Zion High School Ladies Empowered at Usher’s New Look Seminar
On 28 August 2025, a group of young ladies from Mt Zion High School that were comprised of
ladies from the Circle of Sisters, Air Force ROTC, and PBIS student scholars had the unique
opportunity to attend the Usher’s New Look Seminar, a nationally recognized youth leadership
program created by the Grammy Award–winning artist Usher Raymond. The seminar provided
an inspiring and interactive experience that focused on leadership, self-discovery, and preparing
students for future success.
The program centered on the New Look’s “4 Pillars”: Talent, Education, Career, and Service.
Through engaging workshops and discussions, students were encouraged to identify their
individual strengths, connect their passions to potential career paths, and recognize the
importance of giving back to their communities.
Our students were especially inspired by the motivational speakers and mentors who shared
personal testimonies about overcoming challenges and achieving their goals. These stories
reinforced the powerful message that determination, resilience, and self-confidence are vital
tools for success.
In addition to learning valuable lessons, the young ladies were able to network with peers from
other schools, forming connections and building friendships with like-minded students.
The Usher’s New Look Seminar proved to be an unforgettable experience, leaving our students
motivated, empowered, and ready to lead. We are proud of the way our students represented
Mt Zion High School and look forward to seeing how they will apply what they have learned to
their academic journeys and future endeavors.

Empowering the Future: Mt Zion High School Circle of Sisterhood Organization Makes History with Girls in STEAM Event

Mt Zion High School Circle of Sisterhood has made history by hosting the first-ever Ladies in STEAM event at their school, celebrating the achievements of women in Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). The groundbreaking event aimed to inspire and empower young girls to pursue careers in traditionally male-dominated fields, demonstrating that innovation and creativity know no gender boundaries.

A Vision for Change

The organization recognized a need to highlight female role models in STEAM industries. Through months of planning and collaboration with teachers, local businesses, and professionals, the team brought their vision to life.

"We wanted to create an event where young women could see themselves represented in fields like robotics, engineering, and data science," said the group’s president. "Our goal was to show that there’s a place for them in these industries, and their contributions are invaluable."

The Event Highlights

The Ladies in STEAM event featured:

Inspirational Speakers: Prominent women in STEAM, including engineers, architects, and scientists, shared their career journeys, highlighting challenges and triumphs.

Breaking Barriers and Building Futures

The event had a resounding impact on attendees, sparking interest and opening doors for new opportunities. "I never thought I could be an engineer, but hearing these amazing women made me realize it's possible," said one participant.

"It’s inspiring to see young women coming together to challenge norms and create a future where everyone can thrive in STEAM careers.

A Movement, Not Just an Event

The organization plans to make Ladies in STEAM an annual tradition, with ongoing initiatives to support girls' interests in these fields. Hopefully their efforts will inspire neighboring schools to consider similar programs, igniting a broader movement of inclusion and innovation.

This organization proved that empowering young women isn’t just about education; it’s about changing the world—one step, one student, one idea at a time.

This inspiring collaboration sets a precedent for schools and communities worldwide, reminding us that when we invest in girls, we invest in a brighter, more equitable future.
